WODA - WEB Databases
The WODA service allows our users (domain @uv.es), to create and maintain databases from their WEB browser. The stored data will also be queryable through the browser, using automatically generated HTML forms.

About WODA databases
Supported databases are simple, unrelated multi-field tables (without limitation on the number of databases).
The maximum size of a table is set to 1 Gbyte (total sum, including all fields and record attachments, images, etc...).
Multiple search forms are automatically generated: simple word search, advanced search with multiple criteria, output and sort formats. Navigation in the results with and without frames. Also automatically and by just defining the fields, the data entry forms are generated.
The database can be operational by simply defining the fields that you are going to have. However, there is the possibility of fine-tuning considerably, both in consultation and in data entry.
For each field you can define aids and descriptions, as well as various validation conditions ("starts with", "contains", "is number","required",...). There are 9 possible types of fields (line, text, options, URL, e-mail, image, list, date, separator stripe) (note: the image type will be subject to severe size limitations). You can control the dimensions of fields in the introductory forms and define fields whose values can be one or more values in an option list. Fields can be repetitive and can be default.
You can define additional fields that are visible only to catalogers.
A keyword search engine allows you to quickly locate records that have a certain value (or combination of values) in "option" fields.
Default searches are full-text in all fields, but there is no difficulty in specifying searches by specific fields and with combinations of type operators ("contains", "does not contain", "equals", "is greater than",...). Searches are case-independent and accent-independent (if the data is specified as not in English).
The database interface, for both catalogers and readers, is automatically generated in two languages: English and Spanish.
There are three categories of users, each with its password: owner, catalogers, and readers. Readers (the database is public) and catalogers (e.g. to make a guestbook or complaints) can be left without a password.
The cataloger can define a particular password for each record entered. Only the owner can delete or change passwords.
Data can be loaded one by one, via form, or it can be bulk loaded from a CSV file (text with fields separated by ",") from the database owner's machine.
If accessed using a browser that supports "cookies", the database can show what new records are, entered since the last time it was accessed.
If you define a field of type URL, the database creates a "ring", allowing you to traverse the pages pointed by URLs in succession, at the touch of a button.
The database engine used is WODA (woda-old). The description file of each database is built by the user, in a very simple way, using the WODA database generator.
Please do not leave databases created that will not be used.
