Global Distribution of Patient Participation Research

In our ongoing study of patient participation in scientific research, we’ve created an interactive map to visualize the global distribution of research activities in this field.

The map represents the geographical distribution of publications related to patient participation in healthcare research. The data is based on our bibliometric analysis of articles published between 1978 and 2023, using data from PubMed, OpenAlex, and the Research Organization Registry (ROR).

Key features of the map:

  • Each point represents a research institution
  • The size of the point indicates the volume of publications
  • Hover over points to see more details about each institution
  • You can zoom and pan to explore different regions

This visualization helps us to understand the global spread of patient participation research, the concentrations of research activity in specific countries or regions, and whether there are potential gaps in the geographical representation.

Methodology

This map was created using data from our bibliometric analysis. We extracted geographical information for each publication and its associated institutions from the Research Organization Registry (ROR).
